G King backs out of transfer to Nebraska

Former Wisconsin guard Kobe King will not transfer to Nebraska as planned, coach Fred Hoiberg said in a statement on Friday.

King has not been on campus for voluntary workouts. Hoiberg cited personal reasons for King’s decision not to join the Cornhuskers.

“We respect his decision and wish him the best in his future endeavors,” Hoiberg said.

King committed to Nebraska on Feb. 26.

In the 2019-20 season, King started 19 games and averaged 10.0 points and 2.8 rebounds before announcing he was departing the Badgers in late January.

His decision to leave Madison came a few days after the team said he would miss the Jan. 27 game against Iowa due to a personal matter.

King averaged 6.1 points and 2.2 rebounds in 63 games (20 starts) at Wisconsin. He was a three-star recruit in the Class of 2017 from La Crosse, Wis.
