Champions Classic set for Dec. 1 sans fans

Pandemic-altered but cleared for takeoff, the 2020 Champions Classic featuring college basketball bluebloods Duke, Kentucky, Kansas and Michigan State will be played at two venues and without fans on Dec. 1.

No. 9 Duke hosts No. 13 Michigan State in the early game, a 7:30 p.m. ET tipoff, at Cameron Indoor Stadium. In return, the Blue Devils agreed to play the Spartans at Breslin Center at a date to be determined.

In the nightcap, No. 10 Kentucky and No. 6 Kansas will square off at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.

The changes were made to account for various challenges related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Dec. 2, No. 12 Tennessee is scheduled to play No. 1 Gonzaga and No. 2 Baylor draws No. 8 Illinois in the Jimmy V Classic, also to be played in Indianapolis.
