Stokes transfers from Florida to Memphis

Florida transfer Isaiah Stokes will continue his career at Memphis, the Tigers announced Wednesday.

Stokes will sit out this season unless the NCAA grants him immediate eligibility.

The 6-foot-8, 270-pound Stokes played AAU ball for current Memphis coach Penny Hardaway.

“He’s a veteran player that’s physical, tough and has a great (basketball) IQ,” Hardaway said in a news release.

Stokes redshirted his first season at Florida to recuperate from a torn ACL. He played in 26 games last season as a redshirt freshman and averaged 2.7 points and 1.0 rebounds.

Stokes is the younger brother of former Tennessee standout Jarnell Stokes, who was a second-round pick in the 2014 NBA Draft.
