UCLA Bruins freshman point guard Tyger Campbell is out for the season with a torn ACL.
Campbell suffered the injury Sunday during a team practice, the Los Angeles Times reported, and joins high-profile freshman Shareef O’Neal (heart surgery) on the sideline for the 2018-19. O’Neal, the son of Shaquille O’Neal, is expected to make a complete recovery and play at UCLA next season.
Campbell averaged 15.5 points and 7.2 assists as a senior at La Porte (Ind.) High School last season.
Without Campbell, the Bruins are likely to lean heavily on Jaylen Hands, who was Aaron Holiday’s primary backup in 2017-18.
